In this I could not understand how they got third equation .
And what is $\beta$ ?

3rd eqn uses the definition of linear or area expansion :
$\Delta L = \alpha L \Delta T$
$\Delta A = \beta A \Delta T$.

$\beta=2\alpha_1$ is coefficient of area expansion of the plate.
